Oak Island’s best snorkeling reef

Depth: 35–45 ft
Why it works:

  • On calm, clear days (especially July–September), visibility can hit 20–30 ft.
  • Some structure comes up to the midwater column.
  • Close to shore = less chop, shorter swim, safer conditions.

Snorkeling Tips:

  • Go during incoming tide for the clearest water.
  • Use a dive flag (required).
  • Stay directly above the structure; don’t dive deep unless freediving.
